The 8063rd MASH was an actual MASH unit which served in the Korean War. It was one of two units which was subordinate to US I Corps (the other was NORMASH, a Norwegian MASH unit).

The 8063rd is the sister unit of the 4077th which also comes under I Corps. Throughout the series, the 8063rd is mentioned frequently and sometimes even visited by the members of the 4077th.
- "Souvenirs" (Season 5) - Potter reads from a newspaper that a private from the 8063rd has set anew pole-sitting record of 94 hours and 18 minutes. The C.O. of the 8063rd is Drake (probably also a Colonel).
