Captain Sloan appeared in three episodes of the CBS-TV series M*A*S*H, appearing in the episodes "The Incubator" in Season 2 and "Payday" in Season 3, and in "Our Finest Hour" in Season 6. The part of Capt. Sloan was played by Eldon Quick, who also appeared as Captain Pratt in the episode "The Late Captain Pierce" in Season 4.
About Sloan[]
Sloan, a rather stuffed-shirt, bureaucratic type, gives the surgeons Hawkeye and Trapper, the Army red-tape runaround when they try to enlist his help in securing an incubator for the O.R. room in "The Incubator", saying that having it would be "a luxury" for the 4077th.
Sloan makes a return visit in the episode "Payday", seeking to retrieve $3,000 missing from the Army payroll, which Hawkeye, camp paymaster for that pay cycle, was responsible for. He tracks down Hawkeye and tells him he is “$3,000 deep in trouble." Sloan demands that the money be returned, and once he learns Father Mulcahy gave the money to the orphanage (in the middle of the night?), tells the chaplain he'd "be preaching in the stockade".
Sloan goes to tell Henry, who is now part of the poker game, he is arresting Hawkeye. Before any arrests can be made, Trapper winds up with a windfall in the poker game, coincidentally of about $3,000. Hawkeye scoops up the money and pays his debt, which appeases Sloan and the U.S. Army.
