About Hough[]
Corporal Hough arrives in the MASH with an injured leg. He had been helping his buddy at a battalion aid station when they were both hit by a mortar shell which also killed the battalion surgeon.
B.J. examines him and reassures him the injury is not so bad and the shell fragments in his leg can be easily removed. However, Hough tells B.J. that he thinks his buddy is in a worse shape than he is, sweating and looking gray. He screamed when his stomach was touched. Unfortunately, as he was not bleeding, the others at the aid station thought he was faking it and did not send him to the MASH. On hearing this, B.J. suspects the buddy has internal bleeding (correctly as it turns out) and decides to take the jeep back to the aid station to fetch him.
Later Hawkeye treats Hough in pre-op and is upset to hear from Radar that B.J. has left the MASH without informing him, leaving him to handle a deluge of arriving wounded more or less by himself.
