About Dr. Pak[]

Dr. Pak is a racketeer (he calls himself a marriage broker). He arranges marriages between G.I.s and Korean girls. These girls then become eligible to travel to the United States when they end up working as prostitutes for Pak's friends. During the episode, he has arranged a marriage between Soong Hi and Private Danny McShane, a corpsman at the 4077th MASH. Trapper and Hawkeye are giving physicals to the Korean women intending to marry G.I.s and recognize Soong Hi as a "business girl" who works at Rosie's Bar. The doctors try to convince McShane to have a cooling off period and a rethink.

Dr. Pak comes to visit Hawkeye and Trapper in the Swamp to try to bribe them. Dr Pak explains his marriage broking racket to them and offers them $250 each if they will clear Soong Hi's physical. Pak tells them he would have offered more money, but McShane had already wanted $1000 as his cut for helping in the scam. Hawkeye and Trapper already do not think highly about Dr. Pak. They know him as a quack doctor who uses fake stitches and hair cream as penicillin. They are enraged to hear that Pak is running this marriage racket as well. They tell Pak that he might go down in medical history as "the first doctor to set two broken legs, and both of them his own." Not surprisingly, Pak flees from the Swamp pursued by Hawkeye and Trapper.
