About Gonzo[]
On Trapper John, M.D. Trapper, whom, by 1979, is now the Chief of Surgery at San Francisco Memorial Hospital in California, kind of takes Gonzo, who has a lot in common with him, under his wing, as both having also served in a MASH unit, Trapper at the 4077th in Korea, and Gonzo, who served as an enlisted medic during the later Vietnam War, as he later got his degree in medicine and medical license through help through the G.I. Bill. Gonzos sense of humor, impetousness, tendency to "defy the establishment", as well as his free-spirited "love of life" also reflected elements of Trapper's younger days, which reminds Trapper of his days as a MASH surgeon. In the show, Gonzo resided in a motor home (dubbed "The Titanic") in the hospital parking lot.
