Lieutenant Campbell refers to one or possibly two nurse characters who appear in two Season 6 episodes of the M*A*S*H TV series. The first Campbell appears in "Images", played by Rebecca Taylor. The second Campbell, who may or may not be the same person, shows up with a larger speaking role in "Patent 4077" and is played by Brenda Thompson.
About Nurse Campbell[]
In "Images", Margaret calls Campbell to relieve Nurse Cooper in Post Op when she sees that Cooper is unable to cope with the horrific sight of a patient's injuries. Campbell moves in to take over. Minutes later, she calls to Margaret for help in restraining a delirious patient. Cooper watches helplessly while the other two perform the task calmly and professionally.
In a later scene in the mess tent, Campbell is sitting with Able and Bigelow. Able is collecting scraps for the stray dog in the camp but Campbell and Bigelow tell her that the dog has been run over by a jeep. Margaret, who is sitting nearby, overhears them and becomes upset as she has also taken a liking to the dog.
In "Patent 4077", Campbell and Baker are in the nurses' tent grumbling about how hard Margaret has been driving them ever since she has lost her wedding ring. Campbell says she has become a "blonde landmine" while Baker (Patricia Stevens) wishes Margaret would take her wedding ring - it would be worth a divorce to have the Major off their backs.
Hawkeye and BJ enter the tent and try to persuade the nurses to attend a unit party at a combat engineers unit so that the engineers will agree to redesign a badly needed surgical clamp for the MASH. Baker and Campbell refuse. "Those guys are animals," Campbell says. Hawkeye and BJ keep trying but are interrupted by Margaret who enters and demands that her nurses do their work properly. She has just spot-checked the inventory and found that the nurses had missed 10 thermometers so she wants them to go back and count everything again. - "Oh, Major, that'll take hours," Campbell says. "At least. Move it," Margaret replies.
In Season 7 "Point of View" Hawkeye introduces his surgical team to his patient just before the operation. Nurse Able will be on vital signs (anesthetist) and Campbell will be assisting on the rest of the instruments. However both nurses are outside the camera view.
