Lieutenant Jennifer is the name given to a recurring nurse character played by Jennifer Davis who appeared in multiple episodes of the CBS-TV series M*A*S*H from Seasons 3-11. She was credited in 9 episodes but always simply as "nurse". Her name was never given in the credits but she was addressed as "Jennifer" in two episodes.
About Nurse Jennifer[]
Jennifer doesn't pick up her first credit until Season 5 but she began to make multiple uncredited appearances from Season 3 onwards, her red hair making her very recognizable. In "Bulletin Board" she 'helps' Trapper put up the Punch and Judy puppet show during the carnival. She later takes part in the spoon race and the nurses' foot race. She makes an important appearance in the Season 3 finale "Abyssinia, Henry". She is in the front rank next to Father Mulcahy when Henry Blake inspects and says goodbye to the MASH personnel for the last time. Henry stops in front of her and calls her "Jennifer" thus giving us her name for the first time.
In Season 5 "Dear Sigmund" she receives her first credit, as "nurse". Here she is on post-op duty responding to Hawkeye who is making his ward round dressed in a Marx brothers outfit. In Season 6 "Last Laugh" she makes another uncredited appearance. Here she is seated with Hawkeye in the mess tent when Mulcahy joins them and addresses her as "Jennifer".
In Season 7 "C*A*V*E", credited again as "nurse", she assists the claustrophobic Hawkeye whose patient is in trouble. A few episodes later, in "A Night at Rosie's", Hawkeye tries to chat her up at Rosie's bar. Having established the "independent country of Rosieland", he asks her if anybody has explained the philosophy of Rosieland to her. No, she replies, but someone has asked to use her underwear for a flag.
In Season 9 "Oh, How We Danced", she summons Hawkeye and B.J. to the O.R. to attend to an injured Korean boy.
