Lin is a Korean black marketeer character who makes a one-time appearance in To Market, to Market. The part of Lin was played by Canadian Japanese actor Robert Ito.
About Lin[]
Lin first makes his appearance when he drives Charlie Lee to the 4077th in a jeep. Charlie is masquerading as a visiting South Korean 3-star general accompanied by Hawkeye and Trapper. Charlie's real purpose is to come to inspect Henry Blake's antique oak desk with a view to accepting it in trade for some hydrocortisone which the MASH badly needs.
While Charlie goes with Hawkeye and Trapper into Henry's office, Lin waits with the jeep outside. Frank comes along and demands that Lin move the jeep away as the space is reserved for ambulances. Lin, ever the slick operator, takes the opportunity to offer Frank some wrist watches, showing him a whole collection strapped to his leg but Frank doesn't want any.
The next day, as part of Charlie's deal with Hawkeye and Trapper, Lin drives a truck to the camp to collect Henry's desk. But Hawkeye and Trapper are delayed getting Henry's desk out because the suspicious Frank has locked Henry's office with them inside. Radar, outside, persuades Lin to wait but then Frank shows up and demands that Lin move the truck away. Radar tells Frank some story that Lin is with the CIA but Frank is not buying it because he thinks he recognizes Lin as the person who tried to sell watches the other day. He tells Lin, "I'd like to have a good look at your legs." Lin replies, "Ah, one of those, huh?" Frank, annoyed, orders Lin to move the truck away and Lin complies, abandoning the attempt to collect Henry's desk.
