The Fox Ranch (the location ranch of 20th Century Fox from 1946 to 1974) is now part of Malibu Creek State Park. Most of the on location and external shots of the M*A*S*H episodes were shot there. Shooting M*A*S*H episodes there was apparently much like life at a MASH, with electricity from mobile generators and all amenities provided out of tents and trucks. According to Alan Alda, this added to the feeling of realism for the actors.
The site has been maintained and is open to the public. It continues to draw visitors and hosts special MASH commemorative events from time to time. Although the tents are no longer there, there is a restored ambulance and jeep. The sign showing distances to cities around the world is also there, having been restored after the original was destroyed by wildfire.
