The Scrub Room is a space within the hospital building in the 4077 Mobile Army Surgical Hospital where the doctors and nurses scrub up before surgery. At one end of the OR (the western side) is a door leading to pre-op ward. At the other end, another door leads to a narrow corridor and from here another door leads to the lab, the scrub room, the changing room and the company office. The scrub room is equiped with taps and canvas basins for the staff to use in scrubbing up. On one wall is an autoclave. A curtain separates the changing room from the scrub room.
The scrub room features in many episodes as the staff are frequently seen here either preparing for work in the OR or emerging from the OR after a spell of duty. Significant episodes include:
- In Dear Dad...Three (Season 2), Blake and Hawkeye treat a patient who has been brought in with a grenade stuck inside his body. Earlier Radar told Blake the patient is in the scrub room but in a continuity error, Blake tells Hawkeye he is in pre-op.
- In None Like It Hot (Season 7), Hawkeye and BJ hide a portable bath tub in the scrub room, but soon everyone else finds out about it.
- In Operation Friendship (Season 8), the autoclave in the scrub room explodes. Klinger manages to push Winchester away in time but BJ is blown by the steam against a wall.
