SSGT Rhoden is a character who appears in the Season 7 episode of M*A*S*H titled "None Like It Hot". The part of SSGT Rhoden is played in the episode by Ted Gehring.
About Rhoden, "The Scrounger"[]
SSGT Rhoden first appears while B.J., Hawkeye and Radar are enjoying a drink. He's heard about the tub, and wants to trade for it. Radar warns the doctors about "The Scrounger", a title the Sgt is proud to own up to. Hawkeye and B.J., however, aren't interested in trading, despite Rhoden's offer of a case of scotch for the tub.
After a fist fight breaks out over use of the tub, Potter demands the tub be closed down and shipped out, in any way possible. Hawkeye and B.J. are greeted by SSGT Rhoden, who announces he's come back with his best stuff, determined to get the tub.
At first, they plan to trade it for just a case scotch, but after seeing how miserable Radar is after his tonsillectomy, they drive a hard bargain and get ten gallons of strawberry ice cream, as well as an extra case of scotch, in a deal which they call "Scotch A La Mode". After agreeing to the trade, Rhoden says, in his country drawl, "I'm losin' my touch. In the last war, I'da talked you down to a can of Spam!" As "The Scrounger" drives away, Hawkeye calls out, "And a can of Spam!" Later, Sgt. Rhoden delivers the ice cream, which is wheeled into Post Op for Radar, who is touched at the gesture, and also generously shares it with the rest of the camp.
